Get Fit And Have Fun

The good news is, getting fit can be fun.

Fun. It’s the last thing you’d expect if you were all set to get fit. When you make that decision to finally get fit, you prep yourself for some intense training and strict discipline. You miss out on the fun. When you miss out on the fun, everything becomes hard.

According to a Pilates and fitness expert, Cassey Ho, losing weight to get fit is a pretty hard task.

Losing weight is not easy. It’s not easy for me. It’s not easy for you, for your friends, for other people and even other fitness professionals. It is an emotional process. It is physical. It is time consuming …

In spite of that, you really shouldn’t miss out on the fun. The fact that you have to get fit shouldn’t scare you or intimidate you at all. You should actually be thrilled about it because there are ways to make it fun.

The good news is, getting fit can be fun.  Cassey Ho can make it fun for you. She has this to say:

It can be fun. It can be really, really fun if you know what foods to eat and how to work out so that it doesn’t even feel like a chore.

Cassey puts together a short list of simple things to do so that you can get fit. Everything on her list is just so easy to do. She gives straightforward tips that you can easily follow.

What You Put In Your Mouth Matters

You’re thirsty and you want a drink. What do you reach out for? Be careful; don’t just reach out for any kind of drink. What you put in your mouth when you’re thirsty and hungry matters a lot.

Water is the healthiest beverage that can help quench your thirst and make you feel full.  Your body needs a lot of water. You need to stay hydrated.

How can you tell if you’re hydrated? Cassey has a simple trick for you. She recommends that you check your urine from time to time. If the color of your urine is on the light side, almost like water, then you’re good to go.

Cassey adds that drinking water helps a lot if you really want to get fit.

Sometimes when you feel hungry and you grab a snack or something, you’re not actually hungry. Your mind is telling you, “Fill up my stomach, fill up stomach!” Sometimes, it is thirst. So the best thing to do, before you eat a meal, I suggest, down a cup of water and then you’ll actually be able to tell when you’re hungry and when you’re full. I actually tried this for a while and it did help me eat less.

So the next time you want to reach for a beverage that can quench your thirst, make sure it’s just plain water. Water is one of the best things you can put in your mouth.

If you have to be careful with the kind of beverage to drink, then you would also have to watch the kind of food that you eat. Below is what Cassey has to say about that.

Cut out the refined carbs and replace them with veggies. So what is a refined carb? A refined carb is something like white rice, white bread, honey, milk, sugar. These things will really get stored in your body as fat if you don’t use the energy right away. What you want to do is to replace the refined carbs with a complex carb. For example, if you’re eating beef and rice for dinner, replace it with beef and broccoli. Broccoli still has carbs to give energy but they are complex carbs and it gives you a lot of fiber into your diet which helps you stay full and eat less … If you are eating your vegetables and your lean proteins, you will still feel energetic.

Finding healthier alternatives to carbs can be a handful. You need to spend a lot of time getting hold of fresh vegetables.

There’s a simple solution to that. Instead of spending some time trying to figure out what kind of vegetables match your proteins, why not opt for the Carb30 Menu of Diet-To-Go?

With that particular menu of Diet-To-Go, you are assured to get a very limited intake of carbs without feeling deprived.  Since Diet-To-Go is a healthy diet delivery service, you won’t have to do much to watch the food you put in your mouth. Pretty much, every kind of food Diet-To-Go has to offer is healthy enough to put in your mouth.

The kind of food you put in your mouth is not the only thing that matters when you want to get fit. There’s a time element that you need to consider, according to Cassey.

Don’t eat fruit after 2 P.M. A lot of fitness competitors and body builders don’t eat fruit throughout their whole competition prep because of the sugars in the fruit and the carbs in the fruit. Now I am not telling you to do that because you will go insane. You will be very unhappy.

You don’t want to be unhappy, right? Well, you don’t have to be. Below is Cassey’s recommendation so that you can be happy while you try to get fit.

What I suggest is that, just eat your fruit in the beginning part of the day. 2 P.M. is your cutoff time so that you have a lot of more time to burn off the sugars, to burn off and use up that energy.

She goes on to say:

I want this to be an eating clean lifestyle. An eating clean lifestyle, to me, includes fruit because it’s happy, it’s healthy, and it’s delicious. Remember, try to eat fruit before 2 P.M. and you will seriously, seriously see a change in your physique.

Spice Up Your Workout Plan

Getting fit is just not about eating a healthy diet. You need to do more than just eat a good diet to get fit.

As a certified fitness and Pilates instructor, Cassey recommends that you get into a great workout that requires you to lift weights.

Let me tell you a better way to lose weight, look tone, and feel energetic. You need to lift weights. You need to lift something and with Pilates, that counts too. Pilates allows you to use your own body weight to act as resistance and any time your muscles are working like that, you are burning calories. You are working hard. In fact, you continue to burn calories after you work out. With cardio, when you’re done, you’re done.

So spice up your workout plan by doing some weights or Pilates. Be careful and try not to turn into a cardio bunny that spends hours on a treadmill.

Write Down Everything In A Journal

You’re watching what you put in your mouth and you’re spicing up your workout regimen. Are you dong enough to get fit?

Apparently, you’re not. Cassey adds one another simple but valuable tip for you to get fit and to have fun doing it.  Below is what she has to say:

Write down everything you eat and how you feel. It is not homework. It is what you need to do to stay accountable, to be true to yourself and to stop cheating.

If you have a journal … where you can write down your breakfast, your lunch, your snacks, your dinner, and also what you did for your workout. It, seriously, will keep you in line. You really, really need to do that.

Cassey is not the only who recommends writing everything down in a food journal. As a matter of fact, an article posted on validates the fact that you can lose weight by starting a food journal.

Writing down everything you ate, did, and felt seems like a fun way to get fit.  You can always go back and revisit your actions. From there, you can personalize your very own plan to get fit because you have just documented each and every single day of your weight loss journey. That does seem like a fun thing to do while you are trying to get fit.

So I guess eating a fruit in the morning is a smart thing to do, right?

Here’s what I learned about dieting. It shouldn’t be taken seriously. Just like anything in life, getting on a good diet should be enjoyed, not abused and taken for granted.

I used to eat more whenever I was on a diet. I guess the reason for that was hunger. I was always hungry each time I was on a diet. I had always thought that dieting was about food restriction. Apparently, I was wrong. It’s not about food restriction but it’s about calorie-control. Combine that with a couple of fun exercises and you get a very toned body.

The good thing about getting fit these days is that it has become a social event as well. So it doesn’t get boring and knowing that there’s a huge chance of meeting new friends makes me look forward to working out. On top of that, there are gyms that operate 24 hours. I like that a lot since it matches my busy work schedule. Instead of going to the bars, I opt to workout in a gym, no matter what time it is.

I’ve actually started a food journal. Every night, I try to list down all the foods I’ve eaten throughout the day. Then I make an inventory to see which food I eat too much of. It’s not easy to keep a food journal because it’s not just a matter of listing down foods. I also have to list down how much food I ate at what time and that’s pretty tedious. Going forward, I’m going to try to write down everything real time. That way, I won’t miss anything.

I really didn’t think much of Pilates until I tried it. It just felt so exhilarating. It’s as if my whole body has been stretched. The best part is that there’s no feeling of strain or pain. I’m definitely doing it again. It’s good to know that Pilates can actually burn some calories. That just makes it really worth it.

For me, the fun part of losing weight is joining a gym and meeting all sorts of people. Aside from the fun part, I am getting the support I need to go on. If it weren’t for my friends at the gym, I wouldn’t have known about DTG. It seems to work for a lot of folks at the gym. So I’m trying it out now.

HI Dylan. I never thought getting fit could be fun but you’re right. It is possible. It just a matter of having a better and a brighter perspective on dieting.

When it comes to beverages, I make sure to drink only clear liquids and that pretty much is just water. It’s the opposite when it comes to my meals because I make sure to fill up my plate with colorful foods like veggies. When it comes to getting fit, I make sure I get to watch a movie while I’m on the treadmill. That’s how I make it fun for me.
